Jordan Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said the government will award a contract for a 400-megawat renewable energy project, according to Jordan News Agency.
Ensour added that the government has already awarded tenders to 12 companies to generate electricity from renewable sources.
By year-end, there will be another major project with the United Arab Emirates to generate 1,000 megawatts of power from renewable resources, the premier said.
In the same vein, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Mohammad Hamed said the government will soon award a project set to deliver 465 megawatts from oil shale.
